the neighborhood effort now top track down the suspects. good morning, claudine. >> reporter: good morning, pam. this is the wood lake neighborhood here in fairfield. you can see it's a quiet residential community. when someone started stealing the mail they took matters into their own hands and got this video. i want to show you surveillance video taken by a series of neighbors. it shows a man and woman pulling up to mailboxes and taking mail. they took this video after mail started disappearing and they all got together and were surprised by what they saw. >> grabs the mail, jumps back in the car. the car starts moving before he's back in. so very obvious something is not right there. >> reporter: this all happened within the last week. it was a sort of sting operation by the neighborhood watch group here. they just put up their flags on their mailbox indicating they had mail in it. they have also gotten on facebook, they put it out on e- mail, they have gotten on local television stations as well to try to put this out there. there is not enough detail on the video to see the clear faces of
